Rev. Phil was appointed as Pastor to Queensbury United Methodist Church by Bishop Mark Webb in July 2013. His education background has prepared him in many ways for effective pastoral ministry. Phil moved every 3-4 years growing up. He’s lived in Michigan, Pennsylvania, Coxsackie, NY, Delaware, and graduated high school in Syracuse, NY. He then first majored in music education at Houghton College. He transferred to Roberts Wesleyan College and completed his bachelors in Religion and Philosophy. His first masters degree was in education at the University of Rochester. For several years before entering into the journey of ordained ministry, Phil was a certified expert computer trainer in the Adobe graphic design apps and Microsoft Office apps. In 2006, Phil answered the call to ministry (a calling he had sensed throughout his life) and began seminary in January 2007 at Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School. Phil earned his masters of divinity at CRCDS in 2011. Throughout his seminary training, Phil was the minister for youth and adult education at Asbury First UMC until June 2013. Following his m.div, Phil enrolled in the doctor of ministry program at Northeastern Seminary in Rochester, New York. He completed his doctoral studies in the spring of 2018. His dissertation focused on reviving the historic Wesley Class Meeting with a 21st Century model of blending face-to-face and online modes of meeting.
Rev. Phil’s Favorite Hymn is “Wrestling Jacob” or also known as “Come, O Thou Traveler Unknown” by Charles Wesley.
Rev. Phil’s Favorite Scripture passage is John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
