A Simple Plain Account – March 12th

Very truly, I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains just a single grain; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. – John 12:24

A seed is not destined to remain a seed.

God did not create a seed only for it to desperately try to maintain its seedlike existence.

A seed is supposed to change!

A seed is supposed to transform into something far greater, far larger than its beginning shape and size.

Do you get it?

You are a seed. I am a seed.

When we think of how much of a tiny speck we are in relation to time and space, we are the size of seeds.

This smallness has led some to think despairingly of how futile their lives and actions must be in the grand scheme of the universe.

But Jesus offers a more hopeful response to our smallness.

Be a seed but then be willing to be planted, shake off your self-centered focus, and allow your actions and mission in life to be directed toward the other.

Take one for the team. Be planted and give your self as an offering to everyone within your sphere of influence.

As long as we try to secure safety and comfort primarily for our selves, we will remain a hard, gnarled, tiny, insignificant seed. But the moment we allow our selves to be planted in the lives of others, we will see the fruits of love, joy, and peace being born.
