Andrew D.M. Cutts Memorial Scholarship Fund

Cutts Scholarship 2013

Recipients of the 2013 Andrew D.M. Cutts Scholarship

2017 marks the 30th year of the Andrew D.M. Cutts Memorial Scholarship at Queensbury United Methodist Church. Andrew was a popular Clarkson College student who is remembered for his high level of involvement in the life of QUMC, Queensbury High School and his community.

Since the inception of this fund, a total of 77 students have received awards to help further their education beyond high school. Those wishing to enter military service are also invited to apply.

Applicants must be members of QUMC and demonstrate a strong commitment to church, school and community service. We suggest that students keep track of their activities and the amount of time they devote as this information becomes essential when the committee votes on awards.

Money for the Andrew Cutts Scholarships is earned through two fundraisers – a Christmas wreath sale during our Holiday Festival in December and the purchase of scrolls in the spring that honors or remembers loved ones. Of course, donations to the fund are appreciated and welcome at any time!

Scholarships for college study are also offered through our Upper New York Annual Church Conference and by United Methodist-related colleges and universities throughout the United States. Among the options are merit-based awards, Lottie Brown Grants for those entering Christian service and Ethnic Minority Scholarships. Our church office has contact information for seniors who wish to learn more about these scholarship programs.

Applications for the Andrew Cutts Scholarship are available each April from the church office and awards are presented at a special ceremony during a 10:30am worship service in June.
